: Shouka was born at Marineland of France to Sharkane and Kim 2. She grew up under the care of her mother Sharkane and fellow pod mate, Freya. When Shouka was 3, Freya gave birth to her half brother, Valentin, and the two instantly became close. Her mother gave birth to two more calves, Inouk in 1999 and Wikie in 2001. These births helped teach Shouka valuable skills in taking care of a calf. As she grew older, the decision was made to move her to Six Flags Ohio in the United States in 2002. In 2004, she moved to Six Flags California. Shouka lived alone for almost 10 years with only dolphins as companions until late 2011 when her tank mate Merlin was separated from her after aggression between the two occurred. She also spent some time with a dolphin named Cupid. Soon Six Flags was in trouble due to their decision to remove the dolphins because, by law, orcas need to be with other orcas or cetaceans which they were not complying with. After a short attempt to send her to Marineland Canada, it was decided to send her to SeaWorld San Diego instead. She arrived there on August 20th, 2012, and after 10 years of being without another orca, she met another orca named Corky and the two became friends. All members of the San Diego pod seem to like her and Keet has already made attempts to mate with her. Supposedly, Shouka will continue to be on the long term breeding loan at SeaWorld that she was on at Six Flags. She has recently started performing in shows. Shouka is a very dominant whale and has shown aggression toward trainers in the past. The most recent was in July 2012 when she lunged at a trainer at Six Flags. This was most likely the result of the stress and loneliness from not having any tank mates to socialize with.
