ABOUT ME: IN DETAIL

My dear mother died when I was 3 years old. My father died on my tenth birthday. The years that followed consisted of being separated from my siblings, bounced around between several homes (including a group home) that didn't want me to begin with. There was a lot of abuse, neglect and painful loneliness. I felt like I was less than everyone else. Unloveable. Disposable. Ugly.

I survived. I clawed my way through every single day until I ultimately got legally emancipated. I went to a trade school when I was 16 where I got my GED and was trained in Business/Clerical. The first few years on my own I stumbled through life. I was homeless for a period of time and trusted people way more than you should in such situations. I paid the price for that trust. I went on to study law at the University of Maine, got married and had my first of four children. THAT'S when my dreams were fulfilled. When I first looked in the eyes of my newborn son I knew that this is what I had survived for all those years. I finally had the family I had always wanted. My heart opened up bigger than I thought it could.

What followed was nothing outside of the norm. Divorced my first husband and then met the true love of my life, my current husband, Steve. But when I was around 35 years old, all of the abuse, neglect, rejection and abandonment caught up with me. Things I had not dealt with...or had the capacity to deal with, all hit me at once and basically caused a nervous breakdown. I literally stopped living. I had been a Realtor and was taking classes at the local Community College. I just stopped working and stopped going to classes abruptly. I couldn't get out of bed or leave the house. I was terrified of the world and just wanted to disappear. Every single day was a struggle to not end my life. I had 4 children at this point. Three teenagers and a pre-teen. It was ONLY because they begged me to hold on that I did. I totally believed that they would be so much better off without me. I believed I was now a burden on them and my dear husband, and if I could disappear into nothingness then everybody would ultimately be much better off. Sure, they would grieve at first, but I believed they would soon get over it and be able to go on with their lives without me and my mental illness dragging them down. Over the next couple of years there were many psychiatric medication changes, and I grew more stable, although still couldn't leave the safety of my bed.

Then, when I was 37 years old I very nearly got my wish. I had two massive heart attacks and was life starred (transported by emergency helicopter) to Yale Hospital. I was extremely close to death, and that night I almost lost my life once again. But, I survived. I came home and found that my husband and oldest son had moved our bed down into the living room and announced that if I wasn't going to leave my bed, then I was at least going to have my family around me. It was a great thing that they did and it helped me a lot. I no longer feel suicidal, and am thankful and happy with the life I have. While my mental health has improved, my physical health has deteriorated dramatically. I am still in my bed after 12 years, and still in the living room. But I have an amazing, supportive and extremely loving family and that is more than I could ever have dreamed possible.

So, that's my story. I'm lucky. I had a happy ending. Not everyone has that and I never forget that I got every important thing that I wanted in life. A family. True love. A home to call my own. And the cherry on top is all of my wonderful friends, which includes the amazing artists I have met here on Blingee. I have so much love in my heart for ALL of my Blingee friends and that will never go away!

Thanks for listening...(or..reading!)

I noticed many of my friends left blingee and they still have their site in here but they have been gone for a long time. No telling if they will ever come back. I'm removing some of them if they been gone over 2 or more years. I left them a comment. They can come find me when they come back. lol... I miss all of them. Also I removed my Groups, half of them aren't here and I never enter any of their competitions. I don't like putting myself under stress to create blingees if I don't have to. :-)
